Depend upon Google guidelines we see four types of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Black hat SEO: It usually costs less Search Engine Optimization (SEO); its activity Goes against Google Webmaster Guidelines.

White hat SEO: It usually take longer time and cost more, its work under the guideline of Google Webmaster Guidelines.

Grey hat SEO:  It falls middle of tactics are not specifically called out in Google’s Guidelines.

Negative SEO:  It is the practice of implementing black or grey hat Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques.
